The final round Senior Boys Gaelic match was played in extremely poor weather conditions at O'Dwyers GAA ground in Bremore. In a game of two halves, the gale force winds, driving rain and freezing cold temperatures proved to be the deciding factors. The first half saw Balbriggan play into the wind and rain and they failed to create many scoring chances. Full forward Sean Byrne was a big loss, substituted very early on with a serious shoulder injury.Their best chances of the half were two missed frees from Dylan Stanton .Balbriggan's defense played really well and greatly reduced Fingal's scoring .Daryl Clarke played in goals and pulled off a top class save that any top class goalkeeper would have been proud of. Unfortunately, a Fingal forward pounced on the rebound and put the ball into a well guarded goal. The visitors led at the break by 6 points. The second half saw an slight ease of the wind and rain and Balbriggan really started to create opportunities. Shooting accuaracy wasnt at its best in the first few minutes and Balbriggan had racked up 5 wides in the first 8 minutes. It was after 10 mins that the game began to sway in Balbriggan's favour. The introduction of Dublin minor star Adam Rogers and Clarke moving from goals to half back, allowed the faster movement of the ball into the forward line. Unable to cope with the intense pressure Fingal gave away free after free which Rogers slotted over the bar with ease, despite the conditions. Balbriggan then lost one of their most influential players in Jamie Lawlor to concusion. The following 10 minutes saw the Fingal goalkeeper pulled off three of the highest quality saves to deny Balbriggan a much needed goal.In the end the Balbriggan CC side ran out of time and failed to catch up the lead Fingal had attained in the first half. Final Score: Balbriggan CC 0-6 Vs Fingal CC 1-6
