Balbriggan Community College with help from Eva-Tech Ltd's sponsorship agreement have entered three projects in the BT Young Scientist this year.
Seven students are taking part in the event.
First years, Pauline Sobierjska, Dammy Olaniyi and Pelumi Daramola's project is entitled, 'How you grip a pen dictates your grip on life.' The project is an exciting look at how handwriting, and the grip you have on a pen, can dictate certain characteristics. The students worked with over 100 hundred students and analysed their handwriting and documented the results coming up with seven key grips.
Second years Deola Shomoye and Hazel McAleer's project is entitled 'Does Gender affect colour preference.' They collated and analysed data relating to the colour preferences of students in the Community College. After looking at a number of students' colour preferences they were able to draw up a list of colours and preferences for both male and female students.
Fourth years Samuel Joseph and Kenny Olamiyi's project is entitled 'An investigation of Vestigial Third Eyelids in Humans.' The two students went to pre-schools in the Balbriggan area to investigate the 'vestigal third eyelids' in children under 2.
