Balbriggan Community College/Jigsaw Peer Educators
A new well being initiative has been run over the last year in Balbriggan Community College in conjunction with Jigsaw North Fingal. As part of this project, four of our senior students worked with six other schools in North Fingal delivering key messages around creating awareness, increasing knowledge centered around how best we can care for our own well being and support our peers.
‘Its Good to talk’ was presented to all of our Junior Cycle students (300) by these students. A celebration of their achievements was held recently, as each peer educator was presented with a certificate by David Creed and Jenny Hayes, both of whom work with Jigsaw North Fingal. Dr Tony Bates has been one of the key drivers of this initiative. This programme has been facilitated within our school by both Guidance Counsellor, Ann Mannion, our School Enhancement Co-Ordinator, Michelle Condra.
